SAFETY NOTICE

MOTORSPORTS ARE DANGEROUS AND ALL PERSONS ATTENDING EVENTS AT MUSSEL BAY RACEWAY DOES SO ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK. IT IS A CONDITION OF ADMISSION THAT ALL PERSONS HAVING ANY CONNECTION WITH THE RACEWAY AND/OR ORGANISATION AND/OR CONDUCT OF THE EVENTS INCLUDING THE OWNERS OF THE RACEWAY AND THE DRIVERS OF THE CARS ARE ABSOLVED FROM ANY LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF ACCIDENTS HOWEVER CAUSED. WHETHER BY NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY TO SPECTATORS/DRIVERS AND MARSHALLS.

RACE NIGHTS

 

The main racing club night will be on Fridays but should the number of racers become to great an alternative Monday race night will be made available.

The raceway will be open at 19:30 for pre race practice and racing will start at 20:00. If you are going to be late ring in advance and your heats will be scheduled later in the meeting.

RACE NIGHT FORMAT.

  1. Practice.
  2. Championship Races (Including Finals)
  3. Interval.
  4. Championship Races (Including Finals)

 

RACE FEES.

Only current members are allowed to race at club nights, however visitors will be allowed to race for 2 nights before being required to join.

Nightly race fees will be £5 per Adult and £2.50 for a Child.

 

RACING RULES.

 

1.       All cars must be 1/64 /HO Scale.

2.       Only the following Chassis types may be used: -

TOMY/AFX – Turbo,SG+ and SRT.

        TYCO/Mattel – 440 and 440X2.

        LIFE LIKE – M and T Chassis.     

        MARCHON – MR1.

       MICRO SCALEXTRIC – All types

       BSRT G3

       Johnny Lightning – X Traction chassis.

       ALL MAKES – Must use the motor   

        types as fitted by the factory.

3.       No ‘blob’ bodies (vacuum moulded bodies), motor modifications (i.e. ‘hot’ armature rewinds, motor shaft balancing, shimming of magnets, adjustment of commuter timing etc) are allowed.

4.       No Chassis modifications are allowed to any make of chassis.

5.       At the start of each race all cars must have original screens, aerofoils (front and rear).

6.       Tyres may be changed for untreated slip on tyres (Black only). The width of the car with tyres fitted must be no greater than 34mm.

  1. When looked at it plan view, the full width of the tops of all four wheels and tyres (when the front axle is centralised) must not protrude from the bodywork by more than 1mm. The only exception to this rule is on models where as originally supplied the wheels already exceed this figure, these models may be run as supplied. Formula 1 cars must run with front and rear track width as supplied.
  2. Tyre grip treatments such as goop and other similar adhesive type chemicals are not allowed. The only tyre treatment allowed is masking tape to remove dirt and debris from the tyres.
  3. When the car is placed on a flat, slotted surface all four tyres must touch the surface and all four wheels rotate when the car is pushed forward.
  4. Bodies may be modified to allow fitting to different chassis types but only modification to the method of mounting is allowed.
  5. All drivers MUST marshall. Consistent failure to do so will result in disqualification from the meeting.
  6. No deliberate crashing into or taking off of opponents will be allowed, if after being warned a driver continues to break this rule he/she will disqualified.
  7. Only the Car/Chassis you started your first heat with is to be used for all the other heats. A car may only be replaced if the race scrutineer decides the car is not repairable. HIS DECITION IS FINAL.
  8. You may borrow a car from a fellow driver but to be eligible to score points it must NOT have been raced by any other driver during the meeting.
  9. All championship races will be over 3 minute race duration per lane. All heats are then totalled to give a final total over the 4 lanes. This total will then be used to decide which final a driver is to race in. The lanes for the finals are to be chosen based on final heat positions prior to the finals. The finals will either be step up or allocated finals depending on race numbers. The final finishing position in the finals will be scored as follows:- 1st 25 points, 2nd 23 points, 3rd 22 points, 4th 21 points and then down to 1 point. This total score will then be accumulated over the year and trophies will be presented based on the points scored in each class.
  10. IF A RULE IS NOT EXPRESSLY IMPLIED THEN ASSUME YOU CAN’T DO IT. IF IN DOUBT, ASK!!!

 

RACE CLASSES:

 

SPORTS/GT

This class includes all  racing sports cars, GT and Le Mans/ ALMS style race cars.

Chassis allowed :- Tomy Turbo, Tyco 440X2, Lifelike M chassis. Detailed lexan bodies may be used in this class providing they are accurate representations of the prototypes and painted in appropriate paint schemes as actually raced. Body fixing by double sided tape only.

FORMULA 1/INDY CARS

This class is for any Formula 1 & Indy style  race cars.

Chassis allowed:- Tyco 440X2, Tomy Turbo.

NASCAR

2 classes being run:- Must have Nascar bodies with appropriate body details.

Nextel Cup. Chassis allowed:- Life Like T chassis, Tyco 440X2 (re mag) ,Tomy SRT, BSRT G3 and SG+

Winston Cup  - Chassis allowed:- Tomy Turbo, Tyco 440X2, Life Like M chassis.

 

ELIGIBILITY

To race in any of the above race classes the cars must be BOX STANDARD, no modifications are allowed other than tyre sanding . No uses of tyre goop or similar tyre treatments are allowed.

Cars will be scrutineered at the race director’s discretion and any car found to in breach of the club rules will be disqualified and any points scored using the car will be removed.

 

MARSHALS

All races need to be marshalled the racing sequence will indicate who is to marshal each heat. If you are listed to marshal you must take your turn (or find a replacement).

Marshals must not eat or drink while marshalling and must concentrate on returning cars to lanes as quickly as possible.

DRIVERS CONDUCT

Any use of offensive language is not acceptable and if after being warned it continues then the offending driver will be disqualified.

Shouting abuse at marshals will also not be tolerated. They are only there to put back the car YOU DROVE OFF THE TRACK!!!
